David NALE Obituary
Peacefully, at St John's Hospital, Livingston, on September 9, 2018, after a long illness. David Kent Nale, much loved and loving husband of Jean and step-father to Gail and Michael. Former respected member of staff at Craigmount High School, Edinburgh. Funeral Service will take place at West Lothian Crematorium, on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at 1 pm. Family flowers only. If desired, donations to Scottish Love in Action (www.sla-india.org).

I celebrate David's exemplary life, a man of great integrity, kindness, creativity, and dedication as a teacher and role model. I lift an imaginary glass of Laphroaig Select Islay Single Malt Scotch to you, and the love of your life, Jean. May God bless and guide you as you go through this intense period of grief, Jean, Michael, and Gail.

David was cousin to my husband, Bob Nale.They found each other through the miracle of the internet in the late 90's, and corresponded regularly. They each visited the other's home on different vacations. They served as confidante and mentor to each other, and I am fortunate to have copies of their letters in folders on my husband's computer. My husband died 6 years ago, and David and Jean were a great comfort to me via messages after. Now I try to pay the kindness forward and be a comfort to Jean as she goes through her own loss. I like to imagine the two of them sitting and puffing their pipes and conversing and some event in history in which they shared an interest. This image brings me comfort, and I hope it will bring Jean some degree of comfort, too. God bless you Jean. I pray for your strength and peace and healing.
