Ian HARKES Obituary

HARKES
Ian
(Edinburgh)
With great sadness Lara and Pinkie announce the passing of our beloved Ian, who tragically lost his life far too early on October 15, 2023.

Ian was a loving partner, a caring father, son,
and a dear friend to many.
He will be remembered for his kindness, his adventurous spirit, and the joy he brought to our lives.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, November 6, at 11 am, at Warriston Crematorium, Lorimer Chapel. Family and friends are invited to join us in remembering the wonderful moments we shared with Ian.

Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to annerowlingclinic.org
in memory of Ian's mum Moira Harkes.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude for the support and condolences we have received during this difficult time.
Your presence and thoughts are deeply appreciated.

Learned only yesterday of Ian and I was deeply shocked and saddened. Just a few weeks ago he and I were blethering cheerfully in his garage office. I am just an older customer, but from my perspective, Ian was such a positive young man, full of life! It was always a pleasure to meet with him. He and his excellent team looked after my car issues forever, and his dad before him.
I always thought Ian was a kindly and humorous and authentic guy, and I am sure he will be sorely missed by many people. This world needs more like him! And to those like yourselves – Lara and Pinkie and John - who were nearest and dearest to him, all I can say is how very, very sorry I am for your loss.

I was so saddened to learn just today (22nd Jan) of Ian's sad passing. Ian (& dad John before him) has done work for over 30 years. I can honestly say he was the most likeable & trustworthy car mechanic I've ever known. I am truly sorry to only find out now. My thoughts are with Lara & Pinkie. He will be greatly missed, but I know you have lots of great memories to hold onto, but I hope my tribute to what a good man he was may bring you some comfort. I (and at least 7 cars) are indebted to him for all he did in such a kind & helpful manner. Kindest regards. Brian Robertson (Morningside)
