Peacefully, at home, after a long illness, on Thursday, August 8, 2025.
John, beloved husband of Anne,
a much-loved dad of John and Julie,
a dear father-in-law, a proud grandfather to his six grandchildren and a dearly loved brother.
Memorial service will be held at Mortonhall Crematorium, Main Chapel, on Tuesday, September 2, at 11 am, followed by burial at Mount Vernon Cemetery, at 12.30 pm, to which all family and friends are welcome.

Uncle John you single handily got me through my Dad passing. You never said much. You just listened. You were never annoyed with me even when I sometimes called 2-3 times a week. Not even when I interrupted Golf or the Football game. For that I thank you for your patience and kindness. Besides my Dad you have always been my most favourite man in the world. Everyone should have an Uncle John just like you. Thank you for being so unbelievably funny. For leaving me with so many wonderful memories. But most of all, thank you for just being you. I will see you again. Or maybe sooner if heaven gets visiting hours. XXOO
