Dr. John Mitchell
(Edinburgh)
Died peacefully, of old age on October 3, 2025, at Trinity House Care Home, Edinburgh. Former Director of Studies in Agriculture and Environmental Studies at the University of Edinburgh. Former Senior Elder of Stockbridge Parish Church and past Chairman of RLS Club. Devoted husband to the late Muriel MacDonald, loving father to their three daughters, Lindy Jayne, Shirley and Sarah. Proud uncle to Mandy and David, a cherished father-in-law to Billy, Gordon and Pete and adored grandfather of Syd and Georgie.
He is survived by his much loved older sister, Shirley Walker.
Following a private family burial there will be a memorial service in celebration of his life at Stockbridge Parish Church, on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 12 noon,to which all family, friends and neighbours are warmly invited. Sorry to hear the news that your lovely father has passed Shirley
He and your mum were dear friends of Mary and Peter
I have fond memories of the conversations I shared with him at Peters funeral.
After loosing my father at a young age then mother later I empathise with the feeling that both parents are reunited and you feel at peace

Sorry to hear about the death of your father I knew him for about 30 years (OFFICE KEEPER SAC WEST MAINS ) WE HAD ONE THING IN COMMON OUR FATHERS WERE SHETLANDERS I WOULD BE GRATFUL TO ATTEND HIS MEMORIAL Service in January
