Died at home, on the evening of Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Adored husband of Emma, legendary father of Andrew and David, grandfather of Matilda and twin brother of David. Long serving lawyer at Scottish Government.
Thanksgiving service at Canongate Kirk, Friday, January 19, at 1.30 pm. Reception at The Royal Society of Edinburgh, 22-26 George Street 3 pm. All welcome. Church collection, if desired, to be shared between St Columba's Hospice and Scottish Veterans Residences.

John was quite simply a lovely and extremely knowledgeable man who provided colleagues with the most astute advice. I was honoured to have met him in recent years, may he rest in peace and may the family find comfort at this sad time.
