It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Dr. Kwiton Jong, who passed away peacefully, at The Cowdry Club, on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the age of 93 years. He was a dedicated husband to his late wife, Josephine, a loving father to four children, grandfather to five grandchildren, great-grandfather to two great-grandsons, an elder brother to three sisters.
He will be sorely missed and will be remembered with love.
His contributions to tropical botany and cytotaxonomy spanned decades, both abroad in Southeast Asia and in the UK. He worked extensively in Scotland, at the Universities of Edinburgh and Aberdeen and The Royal Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh.
The funeral for Kwiton will take place
in Aberdeen, in February, 2025.

To Isabelle, Yulinda, Joanne and Philip and your families, our deepest condolences on the loss of your father Kwiton. The Ming-Suns and Jongs have a long history together from the days in Vereeniging, South Africa and he will be greatly missed.
