Peacefully, in Ninewells Hospital, on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, after a short illness, Nigel Allen Ruckley, beloved husband of Emily Ruckley, step-father and close friend of Alex, beloved brother to Lester and uncle to Karen and Andrew.
Wake to be held at Forbes of Kingennie Country Resort, Dundee, DD5 3RD, on Tuesday, July 30, at 1 pm, to which all friends are warmly invited.

Dear Emily, Alex, Lester and family, Kirk and I send our deepest condolences to you all and to Nigel's many friends in the UK and America. He was a remarkable person, scholar, and researcher, who enlightened us with his many findings and theories. He was also a wonderful partner to Emily and brother to Lester, friend to Alex. We shall all miss him in so many ways. Our friendship goes back 20 years ago when he visited North Carolina to share findings about the geology of Scottish Gravemarkers. We became friends and correspondents (exchanging 100s of postcards, messages, and photographs!). He was also our gracious host when we visited Scotland, Islay, and the magical site of Finlaggan. Nigel shared his love of gardening, fishing, travel and reading with us as well. We will honor his life and memory by lighting a candle here and taking long walks in our garden and woods, something he would like us to do. May his spirit rest in peace and rise in glory.
