Died peacefully in her sleep, on December 24, 2025, in Stonehaven.
Ruth was born in Bathgate.
She graduated in Medicine from Edinburgh University in 1957. Ruth emigrated to Canada in 1958 then the United States in 1962. She worked as an anaesthetist at NYU and Bellvue Hospital and later as a GP and on the staff of Southampton Hospital, Long Island. She returned to Scotland in 2022. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, William K. Richards and is survived by her niece and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and stepchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held at St Mary's RC Church in Stonehaven, on January 20, at 11.30 am. Ruth will be laid to rest at Balvalachlan Cemetery near Callander, on January 22, at 2 pm.
Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to Doctors Without Borders.
