9 years have passed without you Cal and every day begins and ends with thoughts of you.

Grasping to pick it up
our hands were cut.
Afraid to let go we carried it.
While we had our grief
you were not lost.
The rain of our tears smoothed it.
The wind of our rage weathered it, making it round and small.
The cuts in our hands have healed.
