Retired Teacher from
Brinkburn School.
Former Durham County School's Football Association Chairman, Senior Cup Secretary and also South Tyneside Secretary. Honorary life member.
Honorary member of
South Shields Rambling Club.
With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of John in the White House Nursing Home, Monkton on 4th July 2025,
aged 77 years.
Beloved son of the late
Anthony and Margaret Shippen.
Dear brother of Anthony
and the late Dennis,
loving brother-in-law
of Maureen and Jenifer,
much loved uncle of
Gill, Philip, Claire and Stephen,
also a treasured great uncle, great-great uncle and friend.
Requiem Mass to take place at Sacred Heart Church,
Boldon Colliery, NE36 9DR on
Wednesday 23rd July, at 9:15am, followed by burial within
Jarrow Cemetery, at 10:30am.
Family flowers only please.
Donations, if so desired, will be gratefully received at Church with proceeds going to Durham County School's Football Association.
All very warmly welcome back to The Little Haven, South Shields, NE33 1LH.
John is laid to rest in a closed casket at Co-op Funeralcare in Jarrow with visiting from
Monday - Friday 9-5pm.
