(Houghton le Spring) Peacefully at St Benedict's Hospice on March 31st aged 70 years, Mike. Dearly loved husband of Jean, beloved dad of Neil and Graham, father in law of Eileen, grandad of Dylan, James, Olivia and Jacob. Friends please meet for service at
St Michaels Catholic Church on Wednesday 12th April at 12 noon, followed by burial in Houghton Cemetery. No flowers please, donations to St Benedict's Hospice by collection in church.

Mike was a fantastic, caring and passionate man, a pivot of the local sporting community and a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather. Privileged to know him and a good friend. "The Mike Hoban Question" will live forever in the Mill Pub Quiz. RIP Mike, sorely missed....

Fondest memories of our team mate Mike at the Mill pub quiz on Tuesday nights....many laughs. Also for the chats about cricket and the interest he has always taken in our son Edward who plays at Eppleton. A warm friendly man who will be sorely missed. Much love to Mike and his family. XX

So shocked to hear such sad news! Mike was an all round good guy and a passionate local sportsman. Always an absolute pleasure to share his company and the odd pearl of wisdom. No doubt he'll be a leading light in the big house's cricket team and having a word with the big man about his football team.
