Douglas Hall Obituary

HALL, DOUGLAS 1921 2011 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a dear Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Doug went to be with his beloved wife, Irene on January 19, 2011 at the age of 89. Doug was born in Moose Jaw on August 3, 1921. He was predeceased by his loving wife Irene; brother, Bob and parents, Gerald and Ethel Hall. Doug leaves to mourn his passing, his daughter, Joanne (Roger) Aldag of Regina Beach; Granddaughters, Kelly (Gregg) of Edmonton, Sherri (Mike) and Tysen of Calgary and Grandson, Kris (Rebekah) and Lucy of Calgary; nieces, Debbie (Clay) of Regina, Daphne of Vancouver and nephew, Dave (Jan) of Vancouver, as well as many cherished friends. Doug served overseas with the RCAF in WW II. He worked for BA Oil/Gulf Oil for 36 years, never missing a day of work and retired in 1983. He and Irene moved from Moose Jaw to Regina in 1971 where he resided until his move to Lumsden in August. He enjoyed his cottage at Regina Beach where he spent every summer right up to this past summer. He loved to sit on his deck and watch the many birds that flew up his numerous feeders. He was an avid Saskatchewan Roughrider Fan and attended games up until 2009. As long as there were sports to watch on TV, he was a happy man. And little bets about the Pat's and the Warrior's that he had with his son in law, Roger were always a source of enjoyment for both of them. Doug's great sense of humour and sharp mind was with him right up to the end. The close bond he had with his daughter, Joanne is something she will always treasure. They shared many wonderful chats and laughs over the years. He was blessed with good health through most of his life and for that we can all be thankful. Many thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Meadow Edge House in Lumsden where Doug resided for the past 5 months. Their care and compassion was greatly appreciated and a source of comfort to the family. At Doug's request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers donations in Doug's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan. Paragon Funeral Services entrusted with arrangements. 359-7776

Joanne and family - I was so sad to hear of your Dad's passing. I have such fond memories of your Dad - his sense of humour and funny sayings. I know that my parents always enjoyed their time spent with your parents when we lived in Moose Jaw and then in Regina. I last saw your Dad two Christmases ago at my parents' place. It was such a nice visit and it was fun to see both our Dads together enjoying each other's sense of humour and company! I am sure you have so many fond memories of your Dad- he was a wonderful person. Take care.
