Please accept my deepest sympathies at this most difficult time. I had the honor of playing many rounds of golf with SHORTY including teaming up with him in a GOODWILL TOURNAMENT ... to say he was a fierce competitor while holding his demeanor high as a gentleman would be an understatement.
I do though at this difficult time take heart in the fact that I know he is saddling up in HEAVEN in preparation to ride another winner for my Grandfather Stanhope Joel. I never had the opportunity to see the skills of MR. Churm at the track in person but I well remember my grandfather saying if there was ever a jockey who could have ridden a winner for him in the DERBY Shorty would have been the man man aboard.
Shorty may you rest in peace good buddy and I for one look forward to catching up with you on the other side of the fence

All members of the Bermuda Senior Golfers' Society are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our dear friend Shorty who has been a stalwart member of our Association for many years. Always a very popular partner to have on your team, Shorty knew the game inside out, especially when playing at Belmont where he could almost play blindfold! His enjoyment of the great game was infectious. He will be sorely missed by all of us.

I met "Shorty Churm Sr." as a young boy at Shelly Bay Race Track many times. He always rode my favorite horse "Wild Bill" to victory. He was a friend of my late father "Joe Tatem". My condolences to the Churm family and I am very sorry for your loss.
