We are deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved "Uncle Basil" in Bermuda. He was a loving, fun gentleman who gave us so many treasured memories on the ocean-fishing, sailing, snorkeling, and always welcoming us at the airport. Basil introduced me to scuba diving as a young teenager, a gift that shaped my life and led to more than 40 years in the diving business. I will be forever grateful. Rest in peace, Basil. You and Silvia are always in our thoughts.

Just saw this sad news. Ive really missed you 'Uncle' Basil and I had hoped to see you again. You were one of a kind and of a different build and I always enjoyed our time spent together. Will never forget all your goats, animals, times down the Somerset Country Squire, conversations, laughter, helping me out now and then at the apartment and stories. Thank you for everything. Say hello to Dad and Donald for me. You will be and have been missed sir.

I was stationed in Bermuda from 1978-1980 and live next door to the greatest of friends. Basil and would often go hand-line fishing and enjoy a few Heinies while swapping stories about his life. We also worked together in his "shop" fixing rusted out body parts and painting cars in preparation for TCD inspection. We were also blessed with the company of his beloved Sylvia. Go rest in peace old friend.

Basil, you were an icon in the sands community. Always fun to talk too, and very knowledgeable of all things Bermudian. You will be missed for your wit and fun loving attitude! Rest in peace mate!
