CYNTHIA BELL Obituary

Bell, Cynthia Anne It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cynthia Anne Bell on the 8th June at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital in England. Cynthia was the loving wife of Geoff Bell, mother to Sally, Glen and Michelle and stepmother to Caroline and Simon all currently residing in the UK. Cynthia and Geoff were long term residents of Bermuda from 1985 until November 2008, spending most of these years in Somerset. She had a passion for the island and in particular its people. Following her retirement from the Curator position at the former Bridge House Gallery in St. George'''s, she committed much of her spare time to service in the Lions/Lioness Clubs. In this capacity she introduced in 1988 the annual ''˜Share the Christmas Spirit''' campaign where groceries were collected at all Market Place grocery stores and distributed to needy families across the island just prior to Christmas each year. She ran this program for 19 years until 2008. Within the last two years of her stay in Bermuda, Cynthia discovered a real talent for art with the assistance of the local artist, Sharon Wilson, in particular via the medium of pastels. This opened up a new and exciting world to Cynthia and she continued producing and exhibiting beautiful works of art right up until her recent passing. A service commemorating her life is to be held at All Saints Church in Holcombe Rogus, Devon, England on Monday, 14th June at Noon. Floral memorials should be directed to H. Tredwin & Son Ltd., Chapel of Rest, Sampford Arundel, TA21 9QN, +44 01823 672597; [email protected]

To Geoff and Family,
I recall introducing Cynthia to Sharon Wilson at the Dockyard Arts Centre then passing on my little used set of pastel crayons. It was wonderful to know how happy she was with her new found talent and how she loved Sharon's classes. Jennifer and I are deeply saddened to hear of her passing. Our thought are with you. I will always remember the support you gave me when we worked together at the CoH.

To Geoff and Family,
My life was made richer for having known Cynthia. It was hard to see her leave for the U.K. just as I was begining to see her grow as an artist. In my mind's eye, I see her still........ I remember her as being happy and tickled in the knowledge that it was not too late to learn to draw after wanting it for so many years.
My thoughts are with you all. There is never a good time to say goodbye
