Dear Fiona,
I have only recently learnt of Dave´s passing. I hope you are OK? No doubt missing his dry sense of humour and wit. He was such great observer. He was a great doctor and a good friend.
He will be sadly missed by all, but the fish.

Dear Fiona,
I am also very late seeing this as I have had a few problems myself and not looked at the Royal Gazette for some time. Have many memories of David mainly connected with golf at Ocean View. He was always fun to be with - very enjoyable company. Also, as I discovered, a person who was there when you needed help - as you were yourself.

Dear Fiona and all the family. I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dave. My sincere condolences to you all. He was a wonderful person, and an amazing physician. He treated all his patients with great care and compassion. I feel so privileged to have been able to work alongside him at the DOH. He was so approachable and knowledgeable and a joy to work with. Thanks to his love of fishing, his contribution to the Annual DOH Fish Fry was a guarantee of it´s success. Rest in peace, Dave.

Dr. Barber went beyond the call of duty as he cared for my grandson at the Hamilton Clinic, "after clinic hours", on one occasion. That was the best for a concerned gran. Dear Fiona
So sorry to hear about Dave´s passing. We worked together for many years at the Health Department. He was loved by everyone patients, parents and colleagues. He was approachable, caring, compassionate and unassuming. No question was stupid to ask. He investigated everything to the nth degree and made sure all patients got the best care possible. In recent months we had just started to play bridge together, and did fairly well despite the fact he hadn´t played for awhile. He was passionate about his hobbies .... Fishing and sailing.
Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

My heartfelt Condolences fo out to the family of Dr. David Barber.
Simply the Best is the most direct way to describe who Dr. David Barber was to us as parents of his numerous young patients at Victoria Health Clinic. Dr. Barber was always determined to get to the proper diagnosis. He never rushed always done thorough check ups when children were ill. He never dismissed an issue. He would send you on to other physicians if needed or call KEMH and send the patient immediately. He treated every patient as though they were special and of great importance to him.
I am thankful and appreciative of Dr. David Barbers many years of dedication and service caring for our children in Bermuda.

Dr Barber was my 2 now adult children for many years. He was a wonderful Doctor who gave so much of his time and professional knowledge to us. I loved seeing him and his wife walking their dogs at Fort Scaur and having a catch up. RIP Dr Barber.You were the salt of the earth

Dear Dr Dave Barber was the most wonderful humble caring man and a superb doctor. He did the Asthma Diploma course with Open Airways in 1999 and was the very best asthma educator. He was passionate about helping children to breathe and spent so long with each child and supporting their parents too. Every year he volunteered on World Asthma Day helping people of all ages. He even refused to have a Government car as he preferred his bike! I shall miss him very much.

Dr.Barber was an amazing doctor and humble human being. He touched so many lives in Bermuda. I had the pleasure of working with him at the Department of Health. I will miss hearing his fishing stories and all the no good he was up to in his younger days. He would always buy the nurses chocolate and pastels on a Friday as a treat to end the week. Fiona my heartfelt condolences to you and his family. I will always cherish the fond memories. Rest in peace Dr. B!

My Sincere Condolences are with Dr David Barbers family at this difficult time.
I met Dr Barber many years ago through the health clinic when my children we're younger.
Dr Barbers dedication towards his patients was first class. He built good relationships with his patients. I found him to be very understanding, polite compassionate with my children and made their visits easier.
Over the years we saw each other in passing, and also at fishing meets and tournaments. Dr David Barber will be missed by all that that knew him, his legacy will certainly to live on through the lives he touched. Thank you for your service.

Dave Barber was a Health Department Legend. Every child he met or touched benefited from his kindness, caring and medical expertise. Dermatolgy was is niche. Dave Barber was an outstanding of a Dr who exemplified the qualities every medical Dr should possess. He was Dedicated, an Advocate, Very humerous and Empathetic. I think about his long bangs which almost covered his eyes. That's when Lisawould step in to give him a trim to tidy up his locks! A beautiful friend and avid fisherman. Rest easy Dave. You were so special and loved!

What a truly amazing Doctor and human being. I'm glad I got the opportunity to tell Dr. Barber just how appreciated and cherished he was when he was my children's physician at the clinic many years ago. Hands down one of the best Doctors Bermuda has had.

"Dr. Dave" - was the one of the best doctors that the Department of Health ever employed. He truly loved the children that he cared for; he was there for my children and more recently for a grandson who managed to get a fish hook in his hand!! His kindness and compassion defined him as one who went into the medical profession for all the right reasons. If you needed advice he was there to lend an ear to listen. Dave had an extra special quality, he saw people for who they were; he did not define someone by their complexion, or political or religious background; they were just "people"; a rare quality that many respected.
Dr. Dave, you'll be greatly missed by many, especially by those friends at "the dock" at Scaur Bay and at Wreck Road. You were a good and faithful friend.

I am very sad about this. My condolences to the family. I just saw Dr. Barber not long at Heron Bay Market place. We would see each other here for years. We would have a chat about him being the best at looking at any rash and knowing what it was right off the bat. We talked about fishing. Oh how he loved to go out and fish. I was soo happy and excited to see him last and I shouted DR. BARBER how's everything going I haven't seen you for months. We chatted for 2 mins and went our ways. He will truly be a miss to me. I liked that man. Down to earth and friendly to me. Rest in peace my friend.

David was an avid Fisherman. I remember one day we went out in a tournament. His small boat really wasn't up to the weather we hit on Challenger. The waves were brutal but we stayed out all day. Couldn't stop him fishing whatever the weather. Never forget that day. Sad Loss. Commiserations to his family.

Dr. Barber was an exemplary physician and an avid fisherman. He consistently went above and beyond to help everyone in both arenas. I can solidly say that I would not be the Family Nurse Practitioner that I am today without the influence of my role models like Dr. Barber. He lives on through us; those he has mentored. Every patient we touch and every life that we change for the better has a touch of Dr. Dave Barber running through it. He set the bar very high.
