E. BROWNE Obituary

The family of E.J. ("PENNY") BROWNE of Devonshire Parish sadly announce her recent passing.Penny was predeceased by her youngest son, Thomas and survived by her son Hal (Marcia), daughter Lea (Harry), cherished grandchildren Alex, Sacha, Sam, Luke, Courtney, and Reid, and her great-grandchildren Georgia and Jameson. During her extended infirmity, Penny was fortunate to have the loving attention of her devoted caregiver, Maricar and relief caregiver Hazel.Penny came to Bermuda in the early 1950s and began her nursing career in the operating room at the King Edward Hospital. After a brief hiatus to raise her three children, she returned to nursing firstly at the former St. Brendan's Hospital, and later at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where she worked tirelessly until her retirement in 1995.A keen traveler and talented crafter, Penny found great joy in crocheting blankets and shrugs, often donating her handiwork to Agape House.Penny's memory might best be honoured by charitable donations to the Bermuda National Museum or the Bermuda National Trust, two institutions she supported.AMIS Memorial Chapel & Crematory

Lea, Hal and families,
Sending our sincere sympathy on the loss of your mother/ grandmother. My mother in law Kay Mayor nursed at KEMH too and years later those nurses got together for fun reunions.

Condolences to Mrs. Browne's family.
I worked at King Edward Memorial Hospital when she was in charge of Central Supply Room. A 'no nonsense' person. She was fun to talk with.
May she sleep in peace.

My condolences to the family of Mrs. Browne.
" Penny" was my mentor and one of the persons who encouraged me to embark on a career in nursing while I worked under her leadership in CSR at KEMH in the late 60' s and early 70's.
May God comfort you all.
