My dear family,
please accept our most sincere sympathy on the passing of Aunt Nini. I had the pleasure of meeting her in 2010 after years of hearing so much about she and Mother Ebbin. Have comfort in knowing that as a child of God, she has returned home to be with her Father. Although she will be missed greatly, she will remain in the hearts of her family members forever.

Lots of love,

My condolences to the family of Ms. Enith King. I was a member of the 2nd Excelsior Girl Guide Company and a student at the Central School. Ms. King was one of the people who left a long lasting positive impression. Thank you Ms. King for sharing your life with so many of us. During the holidays I was fortunate to reunite with a couple of my fellow girl guides, and one of my friends shared a photo of six of us, standing three on each side of Ms. King. That was an awesome photo and brought back lots of good memories and great conversation. May she rest in peace.

Even in death, Miss. King remains stately, elegant; her face soft, kind. I bid her fare well last evening at the Viewing. I represented the Eve/Harris family, as the matriarch of my family now resides in Canada.

One of my mother's (Lucille Eve Harris) dearest friends, and my sister's godmother (Judith Harris Baumann), Miss. King always seemed to me to be such a gracious, stately woman. Tall, slender, graceful, with a well controlled resonant voice, and a quick smile, Miss. King had such a commanding presence. I remember that very clearly.

I have chatted quite a bit this past week with my mother as she reminisced about her relationship with Miss. King. She told me that her relationship with Miss. King dates back to their teenage years. They met at the Cathedral Sunday School. They were both Sunday School Teachers (very fitting occupation for both of them!) at the Cathedral. Miss. King devoted many, many years to the Cathedral, my mother remarked.

My mother remembers that both she and Miss. King began teaching at Central School on the same day, along with the late Dr. Dorothy Thompson, Mrs. Elsie Patrick Brown, and Mrs. Betty John…all icons in the education field. The principle at the time was Mr. Victor Scott. What an impressive honor guard greeted the incoming students that school year!

I believe that the only activity that Miss. King could not convince my mother to participate in was Girl Guide activity. Honestly, I think that Miss. King had more patience than my mother in that regard!

In 1957, Miss. King became my sister Judith's godmother. There began a lasting camaraderie with Miss. King and my sister. I believe that their greatest moments together were spent eating jujubes and wine gums. I do not believe either one would disagree! I recall actually bringing bags of these confections back to Bermuda from Canada for Miss. King to dutifully collect from me and to later consume.

My mother has remarked that Miss. King will be a miss to the Bermudian community that she served so well, and is already a miss to her.

She sends her sincerest condolences to Mrs. Ebbin, Meredith, Andrea and Jennifer, as do I.

Cynthia and I offer to Naomi and all their family our sincere sympathy.
Enith was just a delightful Christian lady with all the kindness and gentleness you could imagine...but she also had a lovely sense of humour that always brought a little chortle.
We offer thanks to God for her life and love and service to so many others for so many, many years.

The Queen of Bermuda, ENITH OLGA KING, has gone home to be with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Queen Enith was an elegant and eloquent woman with a keen mind and kind heart. Since relocating to Baltimore, I have looked forward to and enjoyed her beautiful Christmas cards. Last year's card was truly exceptional and special, just like Enith.

During my most recent visit to Bermuda, God blessed my husband and me to spend a delightful afternoon with Enith She was dressed elegantly and treated us royally. We enjoyed reminiscing and looking at photographs including one of my oldest daughter, Alison. Enith's presence was both powerful and peaceful.

On behalf of my family, I extend my deepest condolences, earnest prayers and sincere love to Enith family including my Central School student, Jennifer Ebbin with whom I had the pleasure of speaking last evening.

Rest in Peace, QUEEN ENITH OLGA KING.

Fondly,

Joan

So many memories…where do I start? Well, Miss King and I both liked jujubes and wine gums, and we both consumed way too many of them. On every trip to Bermuda, I made sure to bring fresh supplies!

Thirty-five years ago, Miss King was instrumental in getting me my first position as a French teacher, at the Victor Scott School, where she was also on staff. I am passionate about teaching French and Mathematics, but whenever I can, I squeeze in a good measure of Arts, Crafts and Music. I am sure that it is due to the King influence!

Hugo and I remember bringing our new baby, Gabriela, for a Christmas visit to the house on the hill. We were so proud of our bundle of joy, and so focused on showing her off, that we did not expect a gale force wind to rip your front door right out of our hands! On another visit, we actually, without realizing it, left our younger daughter, Bianca, behind. She had crept into your bathroom, found the Vaseline, and was having a tasting and face-painting party! Still another visit, soon after I accidentally got my driver's license, when I was unable to leave because I could not turn the car around!

You were a hard lady to reach on the phone. It was so often busy. Then, when we connected, we just talked and laughed, and completely forgot that others might be trying to reach you, too. When you vacationed with us in Domaine La Chaumine in St. Hippolyte, Quebec, you and my mum talked and reminisced all day and all night. I don't think you slept a wink that week!!

You are gone but not forgotten, for you have touched our hearts and our lives, keeping us warm on the coldest of winter days, and brightening the dullest of the grey northern skies.

Naomi, Meredith, Andrea and Jennifer, may your many wonderful memories of a life well lived give you strength at this difficult time. She rests with God our Father.

A Tribute to Ms. King (Aunt Nene)

Aunt Nene was the perfect lady of Bermuda, and a Outstanding Citizen, an Icon. I salute to her dearly. We all had Aunt Nene for a long - long time, how lucky can we be, it doesn't get better than that. I can't stop thinking about her and the wonderful times we had spent together. I am so thankful that God gave us the opportunity to have her in our life. We have no worry, because we all know for sure that she is with the lord.

Enith King was an AWESOME teacher at The Central School. She taught most of my family and we still speak lovingly of her crafting talents and her patience with kids, especially during the tumultuous times in the 60s and 70s. She was a fantastic soul with a kind and gentle spirit, and will never be forgotten. I cherish the memories in the art room under the stairs. She will be missed. My condolences to the King family.
