I just learned recently of Gene's passing. Thoughts and prayers to the family. He was a good friend of my dad, Tony Graziano (who passed away in 2012), on the base. He actually attended my wedding in New York. I'm sure he will be missed by many.

To Rose and the entire Wainwright family
We were deeply saddened to learn of Mr. Wainwright's passing..He was a neighbour of ours for nearly twenty-eight years when we lived in Ferry Reach. He was a gentle giant. A man of good character. You never passed him by without him extending a kind greeting or a wave. He certainly will be missed by all that knew him. Be encouraged.

My deepest condolences to Mrs. Wainwright, family and friends. I loved that man! I've only known him, of him for 50+ years. I remember him from early days around Slip Rd. However I never knew him til the last four years, after I returned to Bermuda an adult. I talked to him many many times, going out from home or coming in, or at the bank,.or on the square, but not nearly enough. We'd wave and holla near every day sometimes several times a day. For maybe two months I haven't had a good chat with him only two three minutes, I was always running, making time or so I thought and I'm even more sad to have missed the opportunity. I learned so much. He was a strong sweet nice kind loving brother. I can't say as I've personally, had the honor of knowing anyone else with such a good clean uplifting spirit. Maybe one man an SDA pastor T Marshall Kelly comes to mind. Once I knew him I could feel his energy, his pick up, his lift, in a wave, honestly just passing from 10 to 1 out of the gate. I did tell him one day how much I loved him his spirit his energy! I'm glad. I reversed to talk to him that day. I thought only me knew but everyone, everyone says the same, and more who have known him for ages. This summer I was amazed, almost every day I saw he and his granddaughter/s just chillaxin on the bench beside the house. I could see the love happiness they shared. Nowadays kids can shun their elders this certainly wasn't the case. Anyway my heart goes out to you, Wainwright family in particular and all of us touched by him. May The Most High continue to sustain and bless this family throughout this trying time.
