I remember fondly when he and the crew cut the roof, all the wood work through out the house for my dad when I was a young fellow. Later in our business, I had many years working with him. Always he was a gentleman.

My sincere condolences to the Camara family. It was always such a pleasure having a conversation with Gilbert especially the last time I was at the carpenter shop. He told me many stories about Happy Valley and my grandfather and Uncle Manuel and how well they worked together. I was really interested in hearing so much about Bermuda cedar and many of the jobs they worked on. I was once told that when an older person passes away a library closes. That is so true.

My father, Eddie DeSilva worked beside him for many years in the carpentry shop, always with the utmost of workmanship and honour. I hold fond memories of Christmas visits at his home. The Johnsons and the Camaras have been friends as long as I can remember, back to my pre-teeen days in the old shop at Happy Valley. Gilbert always have time to tease and talk to us kids. Where his custom car body work was always a hit. We will miss him greatly, and never will be forgotten. Our entire family's condolences to the Camara family. Rest In Peace Gilbert.
