For the past few months, I've been looking forward to March, we had plans to see each other again in Grenada. We had plans to hang out,laugh and to old talk. We were counting down days.
When the news of your passing came it was difficult to process, it is so hard to reconcile the plans we had with the reality today.
Even though we didn't get to see each other for the last time, I am holding on to memories of the last time we were together. Those memories will always remain with me and keep your spirit alive in my heart.
You will be greatly missed,GB. Thanks for the laughter and all the old talks. Rest easy, Uncle.

To the children, grandchildren, family, friends and colleagues of Officer Bowen, G., my deepest and heartfelt condolences to you all. I met Godfrey on the job, he was a charismatic guy, who liked to make everyone laugh, you didn't have a bad time at work with him around. As an Officer - you knew he had your back, he carried out his duties and had knowledge of what needed to be done. As far as I am concerned he was respected by all of us and the inmates he interacted with. I was devastated to hear of what he had to battle - but whenever I saw him he had a joke and a smile. Gone too soon, we will all remember happier times. With a heavy heart I say - SIP Officer Godfrey Bowen Sir - a life well lived and you were loved by many.

You all have my heart felt condolences ..I truly wish I could be there to support my daughtert Gileah and family but because of a new job that I just started I am unable to get time off because im in training in Chicago IL. Dear Uncle Godfrey, Even in your absence, your presence feels near. Thank you for your softness- for the way you were kind without trying, gentle without effort to others as well as to me and my siblings we felt your love in every moment we shared with you. Even in the short time we shared, I see you in me. In my father. In the quiet strength we carry. That´s how I know you´re still here. I am so proud of you. Proud of the way you fought through such a heavy journey. You endured so much, yet you never let it harden you. Your spirit stayed beautiful. That light stayed yours. I am devastated about this.... "BoBo" was a beautiful kind loving friend. I met Godfrey thru the Department of Corrections and from there he had a place in my heart from the very first time I met him.
The Officers at the Coed back then were like a family and to hear about this loss really hurts... He always brought his funny friendly spirit to work making all of us laugh... What hurts the most is that the week before he passed he tried to stop by my house to say hi... but I was up my mother's house in Somerset. It hurts me even more because I missed the opportunity to say by to a wonderful man. He will be a miss to me and everyone at the Department of Corrections. My condolences to the family. Thank you for sharing a beautiful, kind, funny man and friend to the Department of Corrections. Rest in Peace my good friend.... Love you like life.... Nori
