If you live long enough, you will pay your last respects to many of your friends. Howard stands out in my mind as a good guy. We studied under Master Al Wharton in Bak-Sil-Lum Kung Fu in the 70's and remained brother thereafter. At the moment of conception a unique being is created and begins an endless journey. I'm proud to have know Cross, my life is the better for having known him!

I was lucky enough to have Howard Cross as my tennis coach for a few years until I went to boarding school. He was an excellent coach who knew my potential and expected nothing but my best efforts at every lesson. Howard was very stern and demanding on the court as a teacher, but equally very fair and encouraging as a human being.

He was a formidable disciplinarian with the softest centre; the most encouraging and genuine sports coach I have ever met. A true gentleman with a heart of gold and a disarming smile. It was with a saddened surprise that I learned of the passing of Howard. We know that it is always a terrible shock when someone so close to you passes away.
Howard and I played cricket for Somerset Bridge Club and later years we became Professional Tennis Pros.
Howard was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Our prayers of comfort to all the family may God grant you peace during this difficult time. Coach Cross will always be in our family's memory, he was passionate and disciplined about tennis and that passion was transferred to our son Tariq during every training session he had with coach. We are truly appreciative for the opportunity to have met such a man, he was easy going and humorous in all our interactions even when he chastised Tariq for losing a match that in Howards' mind Tariq should win straight sets lol. We thank him for all the time and continuous support he gave to Tariq. His memories and good counsel will be our healing through this really sad time but God knows best.
