Ida. You Cared. You made such an impact on me. Thank you rest in peace. You are much loved and will be missed.
The life you led was good, kind and much giving of yourself. You contributed to educating many, myself included. I am greatful that I can look back at my youth, knowing someone cared. Your sweet sprit will remembered by many. Farewell as a single tear rolls down my face.

To the Family of Ida James,
Ida was a special lady to me. We worked together back in the late 70's early 80's. She was always so personable. Even after leaving the ministry, she would ask about my family and I could tell she was really interested. After my recent surgery, she told me she was praying for me and hoped I was feeling better. I'm saddened to know of the tradegy that surrounded her passing. May you find comfort in knowing that God, like so many of us, loved her too. May she rest in peace.

Please Know, dear James family and friends, that our lives were blessed by mingling with Ms Ida at many Health seminars and Vegetarian Cooking classes lead by Dr. L. Gibbons. Usually one of the first to register, she outlasted others by chatting pleasantly after class or by ensuring that she had "all the handouts". We mourn the loss of our friend who shared a tenacious thirst for knowledge and encouraged our teenage children. Ms Ida inspired the best of our service. May we all be comforted by the hope of seeing her smile again when Jesus comes.

To the James family:
I am saddened by your lost. May God Bless you during your bereavement. I have known Ida for many years. She never failed to stop and speak to you. She always departed by a gentle touch and a "take care" advise.
She had set a very high bar of mutual respect and kindness.

To: The James Family
Death in always an unwanted experience, regardless of the circumstance. However, we believe in a God who has claimed victory over Death. With this awareness, we can look forward to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, when those who have died in Christ will enjoy victory with Him. May you and your family live for the moment when you will be reunited with Ida, at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

Dear Dr. & Mrs. James and the rest of the James family,
I too was shocked and saddened to learn of Ida's death. I will now always remember our last conversation in the MarketPlace when she chastised me for "always preaching" either in the Senate or on the radio.
I considered Ida a friend and I will miss our chats whenever we saw each other.
May her soul rest in peace.

To the James Family, I thank God for having Ida in my life. I met Ida long before I joined the Ministry of Health and we became good friends. I remember Ida setting up my only 'blind date'. She said "Elly I have a good man for you and I am going to set you up". Of course I said "If he is that good why don't you keep him for yourself." Ida was like a big sister to me; she made sure I ate lunch, took my meds and sometimes when I worked through the lunch hour she would stop by with lunch for me. I missed workimg with Ida after she retired but we remained in contact. Ida was there for me on many occasions.
I grieve with you.

James Family, I worked with Ida many years ago whilst I was carrying out the duties of Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health & Social Services (as it was then titled). I admired her determination, work ethic and friendliness. She was a wonderful person and I am so sorry to hear of her passing. jhb

The James Family,
Ida and I went high school together, we worked side by side in the Ministry, we played tennis every Saturday morning at the Police Club in our active years, we laughed a lot and shared stories - we laughed when I shouted to her as she pushed herself over Tee Street one morning late last month. Ida was a gem and is twinkling among the stars in the Heavens.
Let God take charge and fill His loving arms around you

May God bless and keep all of you in these sad days ahead of you as your remember a very special woman.

To Ida's family,
I am deeply hurt and saddened by Ida's passing in such a tragic manner. It is unfortunate that it has taken this horrible event to cause me to reflect on my encounters and experiences with Ida.
She had a keen thirst for knowledge about anything involving improvements in health and wellness. I participated with her in many such classes and presentations both locally and overseas. Until she retired, Ida's advice and support of the Bermuda Family Council was a great asset to those of us who serve on that Board.
My husband, Michael, joins me in expressing our sincerest condolences to Ida's loved ones.

Our prayers to the family of Sister Ida
Sis Ida worshipped every Sabbath, outside of her recent surgeries, for the past 3 years with us at Start New Gospel Health Ministeries. She was a member in good and faithful standing and the senior of our group; our hearts were broken at the hearing of her sudden and tragic death. Sis Ida was a keen student at the feet of Jesus who constantly asked questions desiring to have the truth be told. Her last words to us on departing August 27th, in the happiest of spirits was "Love You Guys!" to which we hollared back to her "Love Youu Toooo!".
We truely loved the spirit Ida bought both to our worship day and to the health classes that were held throughout the island. No matter where we were or what time the class was, she would be right up front. Her support was both in her presence and her time, as Sis Ida was always willing to help. In April we had 6 weeks of health classes at Admiralty House and every week Sis Ida would be there asking questions, if not for herself, for others whom she felt may have wanted to ask but didn't. By the time she was done, everyone had loosened up; you could count on her to break the ice.
Sis Ida loved Sabbath lunch. She wanted so much to become totally vegan but admittedly fell through the week because she did not like to fix her own foods. She always said she had better things to do then cook. Food preparation was not her best attribute but we were assured that she would bring cashews and beans each week as her contribution towards the next weeks meal and an avocado on the day. Times when she was unable to come, we would have a plate prepared for her and delivered after Sabbath.
We at Start New Gospel Health Ministries will truely miss Sis Ida. She touched our ministry in her own special way but what stands out most for us was her desire to learn about Christ. She knew that He would be there for her in her time of need. She understood that some of us the Lord would not put through the hardship and trials yet to come, He would put us to sleep. We are sure that the Sis Ida we know, through whatever she was exposed to in the struggle leading to her untimely death, SHE CALLED ON THE LORD knowing and believing in her heart that He would do what was in her best interest.
Make it a point to see Sis Ida when the dead in Christ arise by studying to show yourself approved. God has made special promises to His children on condition of faithful obedience to His precepts. Take the promises of God, one by one, and examine them, be soothed, comforted, encouraged and strengthened by them. Sista Ida was....
Matthew 5:5-9 says "Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful; for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers; for they shall be called the children of God."
I'm sure many that know Sis Ida can attest that she was all of these and more.....
It is our sincere prayer today that God's blessings be with those who remain to reminesce on how the special life of Sister Ida James touched your heart.
Lovingly submitted by her family at Start New Gospel Health Ministries

I would like to extend my condolences to Ida's family. Ida was a true solider in the "army of the God". She worked behind the scene , assisting those who sought to better themselves. She had a heart of gold, priceless. I have had many close relatives to pass over the last few years, non have touched my soul as deeply as Ida's untimely passing. Ida will go down in history as the leader of social justice in Bermuda. She truly was an angel, though misunderstood. I will pray for her peaceful repose continually! Betty Smith

To the Family of the Late Ida James. May peace find its way to you during this time of loss. May your anger give way to understanding, May your memories keep her alive. IJ has been a force in my life since I was a young teenage girl. IJ was never to busy to lend an ear. Today I am a "mother" to a wonderful young lady, and we both credit IJ for pushing and encouraging me to stick to the task of "motherhood". While IJ had no kids of her own, she was a "mother" to many. Recently as she made her way to therapy we laughed as she recalled her tripple threat girls. She had a mission and she has served us well. May your memories sustain you through this difficult time.
