It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of IOLA LORETHA BURRIS (NEE VANDERPOOL) at Queensway Carlton Hospital in Ottawa, Canada on Friday February 27th, 2026 at the age of 85. A celebration of life service for Iola Loretha Burris (nee Vanderpool), beloved wife to George; daughter of the late Joseph Josiah and Alice Maud Vanderpool; loving mother to Wendi Moore Reynolds (Terry), Vanda Vanderpool Walker, Marcia McLeod (Lloyd) Canada, and Richard Burris (Sue) Canada; loving sister to Brenda June Taylor, and the late Evelyn Johnson, Elnica Alvira Vanderpool, Albertha Vanderpool, Robert (Sonny) Vanderpool (late Louise) and Carlton Vanderpool, will be held at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Hamilton on Friday March 20th, 2026 at 2.00pm.Interment to follow at St. John's Cemetery, Pembroke. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, March 19th, 2026 at Amis Memorial Chapel, Khyber Pass, Warwick from 7.00pm to 8.30pm.Lovingly survived by grandchildren Shanae Vanderpool, Rhiannon Simons (Craig), Alysha Christensen (Canada), Alex Vanderpool (Dawnita) and Rhea Christensen (David) Canada; great grandchildren Senjae Darrell-Vanderpool, Cora Simons, Rory Simons, Nia Vanderpool and Masai Vanderpool; nieces Brenda Joy Vanderpool, Judith Benn (Jeffery) USA, Michelle Bean (Howard); nephews Carlton Johnson (Wendy), Graham Vanderpool (Eileen) Jon Vanderpool (Rosalene) and the late Roger Vanderpool (Barbara) ; great nieces Patrina Vanderpool, Marcia Bradshaw (Wayne), Sherri Vanderpool, Joliza Vanderpool, Jessica Hortman (Christopher) USA, and Jenessa Dukes (Jonathan) USA; great nephews Elrico Vanderpool, Jevon Easton-Vanderpool, Kareem Johnson (Britiny), Neville Vanderpool, Jordan Johnson (Jasmine), Marcus Bean; godsons Wayne Linkey Morton and Wayne Furbert; other family and friends in Canada and Bermuda too numerous to mention.Special godfather the late Mr. Henderson Phillips.Special friends Velda Green (NY, USA), Les and Patti Freeman (Whitby, Ont.)
