Michael and Adelia,
To God be the Glory, during this season of your lives. I've known your mother since we were very young children. We were the Cooks Hill children. We were neighbours for many years. We lived across from each other, in our little circle it was the Horton, Cann, Gibson, Robinson and Simmons families. We all shared the common ground that centered our yards.
Joanie, as we called her was always soft spoken. She used to shy away from loud noises. I can remember that if someone was shouting, she would cover her ears. The house that I lived in had a club house adjoined to it...this is where the Somerset Majorettes[1960's] would practice....whenever they started up with the loud music...you could bet that Joanie would run home from the noise.
I'll miss Joanie, even though we have not seen each other in years, whenever we did meet, there was her broad smile and conversation.
Michael and Adelia, you may not know who I am, but I remember holding the both of you when you were babies and watching you grow as children.
Your grandmother Adelia Cann was my Godmother and my mother Elizabeth Simmons was your uncle Mitchell's Godmother [they called her Aunt Liz].
My condolences to Mitchell, Daymon, Mechell and Robin 'Tisa', and the Woods family, also. May you all be Blessed in knowing Joanie is in the Hands of the Lord......Amen

To Michael, Dee and family, Joanie was a quiet and gentle soul. She lived that way and seemed to pass away the same. Keep her in your thoughts as fun filled moments will keep her memory alive.
