Oh John, your perpetual "no-baloneyness" was missed then, is missed now, and, like you, will always be.

John and I were roommates at the U starting in 1973. We shared an apartment together then later a Ford Econoline van, traveling down the east coast to Florida.
We lost touch in the mid 70's.
It's great to see these testimonies from people who he loved or worked with. He was always looking for an excuse to laugh. A great and talented guy. Condolences to his family.

Dear John and Beloved Family,

I knew John as a lawyer and a friend. We worked on cases together or he referred cases to me. John was extraordinarily bright. A great lawyer and he was always fun. He was a giver with a huge heart. I'll miss you; you are one of a kind. Love always to you and your Family. Thank you.

Mentorship is something John did very well. We worked together at Jardine, Logan & O'Brien in the mid-80's. Within a couple weeks of joining the firm, John came in to my office, closed the door, introduced himself and explained to me how to make it at the firm and as a lawyer. Everything John told was true and was great advice.

Over the past thirty years at JLO, I have endeavored to give the same "Dunlap" advice
to new lawyers. God bless John Dunlap!
