Words cannot express the love and respect we felt for Uncle Joe!! He was certainly a character and was the greatest story teller around. His head was so full of memories and information and would keep you spell bound for hours!! The last vacation he and Aunt Connie took they spent it with us here in TN and what a wonderful 2 weeks that was!! We lived with them when we first were married and later in life they lived with us. They were like a second set of parents to both of us. We loved them both very much and will miss them terribly. We understand your loss and grieve with you.

What a man he was. Your Dad, our last and sweetest Uncle. We talked about him for several hours a few days ago, reminiscing, after Carmen telephoned from Canada: His warmth, affection, humor, tenacity, seeming indestructability. How much he loved your Mom, herself so kind and dedicated, and how much he missed her when she went ahead of him. Our “Uncle Joe” stories are embedded in our memories, but we still feel slightly stunned that there is an end to his stories. We were not ready yet.

Carmen was so lucky to have been able to spend some hours with him only a short time ago: story-telling. I wish I’d been there too. We were not ready yet.

Celebrate him—and make more stories in his memory.

Love to you all
