Leander Rankin Obituary

A funeral service will be held for LEANDER ROSS RANKIN, former proprietor of This and That, and Knick Knack in his 94th year of 11 Mayflower Court, #7 Woodbourne Avenue, Pembroke on Friday, September 14th, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at the Centenary United Methodist Church, Smiths Parish. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers relatives and friends may wish to make donations to the Centenary United Methodist Church, Smiths Parish, in memory of Leander Rankin. Interment will follow at the Chapel of Ease Cemetery, St. David's. Surviving are Brother Monty Fox, Children Jeannie (Peter) Olander, Beth (Joe) Bohacs), John (Akemi) Rankin , Grandchildren Hans (Martha) Olander, Louise Olander, Jennifer (Jeff) Bretsch, Allyson (Mamie) Costello, Nathan Bohacs, Taylor Rankin, Evan Rankin, Great Grandchildren Luisa, Pansy, Eliza Olander, Sam and Leo Bretsch, Special Friends Charlie and Renee DeSilva, Alan and Sheila Frick, and a host of other relatives and friends. I have known Mr Rankin since I was a young boy growing up in my home stead on Clarendon Lane in Flatts Village...He was a kind,compassionate,friendly and genuine man who will be sorely missed....To the family I extend my sincerest condolences...I pray God's Blessings to you all at this time...jcs

My condolences to the Rankin family - Mr Rankin was a very sweet man. I used to work with him at his church bazaar booth and we used to always have interesting discussions.

Thanks to Mr. Rankin, I was able to pay for my first horse. Working for him at This n' That Warehouse, and then at the Front Street location, taught me so much about responsibility at an early age. I will be forever grateful to him for giving me, and many of my peers, the opportunity. My condolences to the whole family.

Dear John and Rankin family, My deepest condolences to you and your sisters and their families. I used to see Mr.Rankin in passing at Mayflower court and he would always stop and have a quick chat and ask after my family. Like a lot of Bermudians we remember him from This and That. May all the wonderful memories made over the years comfort you during this very difficult time.
