I´m just learning of Mark´s passing. I worked with him at a company which I believe was his first job here on the island. He was so much fun to be around and had a gift of bringing everyone together. He had a big appetite for life and people and his friends. He was larger than life. Oddly I found out about his passing the same day I recalled a memory that involved him. I was so very shocked to learn that he is no longer with us. I will never forget Mark. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

A big man with a big heart and an even bigger laugh. You never ceased to crack me up even while huffing and puffing away at the gym.

Hugs and condolences to his family from his Bermuda friends.

I met Mark at my condo complex when I arrive 3 years ago. His smile and sparkling blue eyes brought me to say hello. I did notice that there was a bit of inquisitive emptiness in those eyes, every time I said "Hello" it was like Mark was meeting an old friend, or someone he met for the first time. I then realized he was battling Alzheimer's.
He was also welcoming to me, and I enjoyed his conversations about his love of Canada, Vancouver, and the hockey team, the Canukes.
I found out a few months ago that he went back to his family there, and I send my condolences to his family and those who loved and friended him.
RIP MARK.

I am saddened to hear Mark´s life was cut short. He was so witty, smart, and never at a loss for words. Such a big teddy bear. We shared the same birthday, he never forgot. He was always trying to fix me up with a date, always had a good story to tell, and had me laughing in his presence.

I met him at Pomander Gate Tennis Club I when it held lots of social events. He was always joking around at the club. It was a fun time in Bermuda.

I remember bumping into him at Supermart regularly when his girls were younger, usually near the butcher counter, chatting to everyone. One time (near Christmas) he was even wearing a Santa costume.

Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined reading his obituary at his age.
Mark, you lived life to the fullest. I am so glad we crossed paths. You´re one of a kind!!

My condolences to Mark´s family and friends.

Mark had a great heart, and he radiated positivity to his friends. These are the toughest people to see pass on. A spirit like Mark's never dies.

Madison and Ariel - I am so sad to see this. Your Dad was always full of life with a great sense of humor.
I looked forward to seeing him when he'd pick you
up from BHS, he was like the energizer bunny but his batteries never ran out.

It´s been an extremely long time since we´ve seen Mark Kaplen but he left a deep impression in our hearts for the many times he entrusted the services of our taxi business to convey himself and his two daughters around the Island of Bermuda.
He was big in stature and always displayed kindness as he shared with us the goals of life for his daughters who were quite young at the time. We remember that he was an avid golfer.
May his soul rest in peace.
