To Fay and family
I have known Michael since the early 70's, when we both played for the Accies, the Academicals Football Club. We kept in touch after I had left Bermuda, and we always met up whenever I returned for a vacation. Michael was a true friend and a real gentleman.

Sending my deepest sympathies to the family, I was very sad to learn of Mike's passing.
As a fellow Scot and runner I used to love talking to him at the races, where he was always encouraging even though I was finishing a fair ways behind him.
I tried my hardest to get a Scottish strip like his and we had a good joke about that.
He felt like a kindred spirit when I realized he had lived close to where I grew up.
Such a kind gentle soul who will be missed, I know the running community will hold his memory and spirit dear. Best wishes,
Carolyn Pemberton

Dear Fay, Edwin, Eric , Isabel and super grands, we extend our heartfelt condolences to you all on the passing of a Dear, sweet man, knowing his love for you all was unmeasurable. There are so many wonderful words that could describe Mike, like Amazing husband, A Gentleman, a loyal friend, likable by all, the most friendliest person one could meet, super great grand dad to his grand kids and always supportive and helpful, how can anyone not like this man?
Truth is ...You just couldn't!
I am sure Bermuda will miss Mike Whalley, at the May 24th Races, seeing him in his Floating Scot' outfit, plaid Scottish skirt n matching hat n waving flag, running the race but still taking time out to wave and be friendly. This was who Mike was. He will definitely be missed by all who knew him.
Keeping you in our prayers and thoughts at this sorrowful time.
May the presence of God be ever near to you
Fay and family to bring comfort and his peace.
Blessed are they that mourn, for
they shall be comforted.
Fay & family, may you be surrounded by the love and support of family and friends and the many wonderful memories of Michael .
Remember we have this Blessed Hope, we will see Michael again when Jesus returns to take his children home. O that Blessed Assurance' .
Bless you family as you go through this storm,
God is with you, as well as family and friends always.

A true gentleman. I had the pleasure of running with the 'Flying Scot'in the 80's and 90's. Whenever I saw him he was so genuinely interested in what I was doing and followed my children's progress. So very sad that he is gone but memories last forever.Rest in peace Mike.

My sincerest condolences to Mr. Whalley's Family. His kind, happy manner, and running the roads and trails on the Island will be missed. I remember when I first started running in cross-country races, Mr. Whalley would run circles around me. But each time he passed me he would give me words of encouragement and guidance; which I absolutely appreciated! RIP Mr. Whalley. Family: I will praying for your comfort, peace and strength.

We will miss greatly a wonderful man, whether in church or on the roads and trails. Mike encouraged many runners and was a joy to run with showing good sportsmanship while striving to obtain his best performance. I know he volunteered in many areas. It makes me sad to write about him rather than chat to him. Blessings to all family and friends.
