My fondest memories of Lady Vera DeShields are multiple as I reflect on the times we shared at John Jacques Secretarial School, at a certain Parsons Road residence, at the Ord Road West residence of her lovely parents, and mainly on the telephone. She was the one only friend who addressed me as "O". Vera´s radiant smile, her sweet spirit, her caring and protecting heart for Rosalie and Aaron, and in later years, the unselfish nurturing love that she displayed in her own charming Sylvan Dell home towards her late husband and well groomed son and two beautiful daughters, even finding quality time for her neighbors and Church folk, will ever be imbedded in my heart whenever I, with an emotional mixture of joy and sadness, hear the name Vera Francine (Woodley) DeShields.
My friend, your transition from
this Earth to Glory, is the one journey we must all prepare to take. Sleep in peace, my dear friend, the memories we shared will never fade.
I offer my condolences to Vera´s entire family and friends who will likewise miss her presence.

GM. Huge condolences to the family, friends and extended families of this beautiful Godly lady. A long time member of St Paul's Paget Church and its Guild and as a member myself, had the pleasure to always welcome her wisdom. Definitely a no nonsense person, that's what I loved about her, she kept it real and conducted her with such poise. I missed her at church but she now joins her beloved Herman. To Vera Lynn and Pat and my sweetheart Rakeem so very sorry for your loss. Praying for her whole family at this time with continued blessings as you heal.

I am sending Heartfelt condolences, Herman, Vera-Lynn (It's been so long, as your former English/History teacher at the old Berkeey site) and Patricia. I remember interacting with your mom on many occasions as she was a very involved parent (Parent-Teacher conferences, PTSA meetings, The School Fair etc.). She was a compassionate lady with a wonderful sense of humour and she was a mama who didn't play. She will be missed.
