It´s now the morning after laying my husband to rest. As expected, it´s tough, heavy, and truly heartbreaking. However, I want to express my deepest gratitude for every message shared. It has lightened my load this morning, and provided me with much needed comfort. It warms my heart to know that so many people loved and cared for him. Thank you ALL and God Bless .

When I heard about Vernon's passing I was shocked. I've known him for a very long time and always knew him to greet me with a warm smile and quick chat. He's an example of the old saying that the good die young. My deepest condolences to the family. Still seems so unreal!

Vernon was my co-worker, my boss, and my friend. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Vernon for ten + years. We shared an office and often confided and learned from each other on a daily basis. What a great experience it was and such an honor to have known him. We traveled together, talked about family, grandkids and much about business and life. He most certainly was one of a kind and never backed down from a challenge.
Hard to understand right now I know.
Please accept my sincere heartfelt condolences Michelle, Mr. and Mrs. Hassell and all of the children and family.
I Pray for your peace.

To the Hassell family,
I feel blessed to have had the opportunity meet Vernon. You never realize how deeply a person can impact your personal life until they are no longer accessible on this physical plane. I have always believed God puts folks where we are meant to be in life. The universe aligned perfectly so that I had the honor and opportunity to get to know him as our work days pressed forward.
From his short time on Earth, I know for a fact through his actions that he had a genuine care for his family, his work family, and that Mr. Hassell loved his job.
I will miss ringing the doorbell on late at night to the main office upstairs to retrieve him to go home every night as I closed my store. I will miss his advice and bouncing ideas off him in regards to what was going well and what we might try differently. I will miss his rushing downstairs for snacks and then rushing back to his desk with those snacks. I honestly will just miss him...
God bless and keep your family and our work family together as we celebrate and mourn Mr. Hassell's personal life this weekend.
Vernon will always live on through those that had the pleasure of meeting and working closely with him.
He will continue to impact our lives until it is our time to travel to be with our Lord and Savior.
God bless and keep us all as we try to absorb the reality that we will have to continue do our best without his physical guidance or interaction. I will miss you Vernon. Until we meet again in a different life.

The shocking news of Vern´s sudden departure has had me reeling since it was received. That was the effect Vern had on my life. As I´ve told others since I heard I don´t know one person that ever had a negative thing to say about Vern.
When i close my eyes in remembrance, all I see is his smiling face. Through good times and bad Vern always kept the same positive attitude.
Vern will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

To the family and friends of Mr. Hassell,
I didn't know Vernon on a personal level, however, each and every time I would stop at the Marketplace, he was always so very friendly and kind and always said hello and if there was anything I needed he would always make an effort to try and get it for me.
When someone in this life leaves a cherished mark on your heart, you know they are special in each and every way.
You have my sincerest and heartfelt condolences. Losing someone we love never goes away but the memories and the kindness that they leave behind, helps to make our day(s) just a little bit brighter going forward.
RIP Vernon, you will absolutely be a huge miss at the Marketplace. Fly high.....

Vernon, I bet you are asking yourself what you are you doing in SIP. We were friends from Bermuda College days with memorable Disco 40 nights; lots of dancing, fun and laughter in our regular party group of friends. You always had so much energy for our 3 hour plus dance marathons and you
knew how to live, dance, travel, eat well and to have a great time. You looked out for your family and friends and enjoyed your career. RIP Vernon.
My condolences to your family.

I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Vernon. It´s hard to put into words the sense of loss that comes with saying goodbye to someone who was once a wonderful colleague (at Port Royal School), a kind friend, and a superb teacher.
Vernon had a rare gift-he knew how to make people feel special. Whether it was a quiet word of encouragement, a shared laugh in the hallway, or the way he lit up a classroom with his passion and warmth, he left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
After he left teaching, it was always a delight to run into Vernon at the Market Place where he would always take the time to say hello and ask how things were.
His absence will be felt profoundly in the hearts of all who worked alongside him.
My thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
With deepest sympathy,

Dear Vernon,
As I bid a bittersweet farewell to my cherished friend and steadfast colleague, my mind wanders through the countless memories we shared over the years. The laughter, the challenges, the triumphs - we've traversed so much together. From the customers we delighted, the vendors we nurtured, and the associates we supported, to the daunting objectives we conquered and the impossible expectations we exceeded. We've weathered store resets and remodels, inventories, hurricanes, Covid, sales budgets, holidays, customs, health inspections, immigration - the list goes on. Yet, through it all, our bond remained unshakeable, and our camaraderie was forged in the fire of shared experiences.
What I admire most about you, Vernon, is your unwavering kindness, your contagious smile, and your infectious laugh. You were a pillar of strength and compassion, not just to your family, but to everyone around you. Your gift for teaching, coaching, and leading was inspiring, and your loyalty to the Marketplace and your career was unwavering. You were a rock, a true friend, and a shining example of integrity and dedication.
Your passing leaves an unfillable void in my life, and I will miss you with every fiber of my being. Yet, I take solace in the treasure trove of memories we created together, memories that will forever be etched in my heart. Your legacy will continue to inspire and uplift countless lives, and I have no doubt that heaven is rejoicing at the arrival of such a remarkable soul.
Your impact on this world will be felt for generations to come, and your memory will remain a blessing to all who knew you. You will forever be in my thoughts, my prayers, and my heart. Farewell, dear friend. May your memory be a blessing to us all.
With love and deepest condolences,
Don Bryan

To Butchie and all the Hassel family and all those who came to know and love Vernon,
my wife Janet and I send our deepest condolences. I dare say that Vernon brought something special and different to our life and I know that many others can claim a similar joy. We were just lamenting not having seen him for a bit so this was a sad and shocking surprise. Vernon 'brought love and happiness' as the song says so we know how he would want you and us all to be. We miss him but we celebrate and commemorate the chance of having known him. Michael and Janet
