To Dolores, Scott, Pamela, and all of the Carlington family, friends, and the Cathedral Family,
My deepest condolences on Walter´s passing. I was very sad to hear the news and wish you all comfort during this difficult time.
Walter was always kind, gentle, loyal and ever present to help.
I hope you are comforted (as I am), that in addition to all the heavenly welcomes he received, he was also greeted with a big warm Irish hug from Canon Norman. Norman had great appreciation and affection for Walter. (Theirs was a joyful reunion I´m sure.)
Walter, may you rest in peace and rise in glory dear sweet man.
And Delores and Pamela, know he is in your hearts always.
With much love,
James Patterson

While I did not know Walter well, I do recall hearing him on the OMIK CW net in which I participate. I know he was a devoted ham and shared his love of the hobby. His presence in the net will be missed. My prayers and thoughts are with his family.

Sincere condolences to the Carlington Family. I knew Walter through the LongRiders and also from his radio shift at the Ocean Races Finish Line. I am also a Silence owner. He was so kind helping me get acquainted with it and enjoyed one Silence ride with him. One seldom meets a person with such a ready smile and warm nature. I wish I had known him longer and better. He will be missed by many, as I read the tributes. May family, friends, and fond memories ease the pain of your loss.

The distance between Bermuda and New York is a great one, especially when you realize I never met Walter in person. We shared amateur radio and we shared membership in the OMIK Amateur Radio Association and it was there, on the CW Net, and during a long, friendly, chatty contact - a real conversation instead of Morse Code - that we got to talk a little longer. Walter was always a gentleman and a kind soul and he embodied the essence of what it means to be a family member among the family of amateur radio operators. Goodbye, Walter, there is NO WAY we will ever forget you.

Bob and I send our heartfelt condolences to the family. Walter was one of the finest men we have ever known and we are blessed that our paths crossed. We met Walter on Amateur Radio and Bob a Walter spoke together almost every day. When we visited Bermuda on Bobs birthday Walter picked us up and took us to his home for tea and Birthday cake. Bob has always said that was his most memorable birthday.
We didn´t get to meet you, Deloris, as you were away at the time but we were so looking forward to sharing a cruise with you in July.
Bob considered Walter his best friend and not a day went by that Bob didn´t speak of Walter. Walter´s passing will leave a hole in Bob´s heart. He will be very missed!
May the Lord fill you with His peace.

We are saddened and very surprised to hear of Walters passing. Our deepest Condolences and Prayers to Delores and Family. Whenever we are able to visit Bermuda, Walter and Delores would take the time to show us around parts of Bermuda and Walter would always give us a history of the area. Walter was also an avid Amateur Radio Operator and I would check into a Net fairly often that he would run as part of the Radio Society of Bermuda. He also let me make contacts from his home station as well. We would get together for Tea and Cookies at their home and go out to Dinner too. We also chatted about our Cruise Ship adventures and many other things. Walter was such a wonderful person and a gentleman and we will miss him dearly.
