The Brewer family has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of postings, calls, cards, words and stories from around the world expressing condolences, prayers and best wishes. For this we are truly appreciative and moved. Dad was a gentle and caring man with a passion for his family, friends, colleagues, both here and abroad as well as for his beloved Bermuda. He believed strongly in Bermudians and our ability to work together to create great things. Nothing demonstrated this better than the creation and eventual success of Bermuda Container Line.
We are most fortunate in that Jackie, the boys, our wives and the grandchildren were able to tell Poppa how much we loved him before he left us and the difference that he made to all of our lives. On November 11th the family gathered privately to remember Poppa and spread his ashes.
In cricket terms 83 is a pretty good innings but it still feels like he deserved his century. He is gone for now but not forgotten.

To the Family of Mr Brewer,
I last spoke to him a couple of months back whilst delivering water to his residence. I'll always remember him as a sincere and insightful man, as I recall our conversation about where Bermuda's society is heading. I appreciated our talks whenever I came by. My heartfelt condolences.

Dear Jackie and the Family, Bill was a Bermudian pioneer and we admired and respected him so much. He was so kind to my mother and father when they lived opposite him on Riddells Bay.
Having served with him on the board of Bermuda Container Line I know that the food on my plate every week is due to his vision, commitment and expertise

It was with great sadness that I heard about his passing away from us. As captain of the Poinciana in the 60's and later visits to the island I can only remember Bill as a kind, caring professional person. Ironically after a brief visit I left the island 4 days before he died. If I had only known. I pray that my good friend rests in peace.

To the Brewer family: I was saddened to learn of Bill's passing. I spent many pleasant hours on the Riddells Bay Golf course playing with or against Bill. He was always a gentleman and a good sport.
