Dear John
When I think back to our childhood, you and Olive were such a big part of that. Staying at the Swan, then later Grafton Bank, we have such fond memories. You were always busy, yet always so inclusive of us.
As teenagers, you always had time for us. You had the ability to bridge the age gap no matter what that was. It was always fun with you around.
Mum and Dad had some great holidays with you and Olive. Stories of Zim and all your great friends. You connected people across the globe as if it were around the corner. We thank you for that. We thank you for your amazing lasagne, for your love of wine, for your bright and positive outlook. For your generosity to Graeme and I, your heartfelt speech you did at our wedding 30 years ago. For your blethers with Mo more recently, updates on your social life and batch cooking! There is so much more I could go on forever......
You will be missed by so many John.
Lots of love Mr Watson

As we gather today far and wide to honour a true legend John Watson - you fought a good fight after being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, your positivity and strength was admirable by all who knew you. We are heartbroken that you never got to do your Africa trip that you were so determined to do in August but health reasons delayed it and you had planned for March 2025. We have such lovely memories of trips together in Scotland, Cape Town and Zimbabwe and we will always cherish and hold those memories close to our hearts. You were a good friend to so many and a true inspiration, your determination and zest for life was unwavering, living life to the fullest. We will miss our video calls and chats. Rest peacefully John - we will keep the red wine flowing, as we toast to you -a life well lived

Our dearest John....we were so shocked to hear of your passing. Our plans to show you the Drakensberg and the North and South Coasts of South Africa were put on hold due to your illness...but we were looking forward to seeing you in March.
We are going to miss you so much especially all the chats and the recipe swopping. Thank you for being such a good friend and always being supportive of our family. You lived life 100% and we have such happy memories of holidays together and your visit to the farm in Eston.
Rest in peace our red wine drinking "mad Scotsman"
