As a friendship of Sheffield 93 medics we still regularly meet and reminisce about our medical school days and how things have changed in personal and work lives since this time. Recently we were chatting about Nigel Bax, remembering his lectures and in particular him telling us about the importance of getting a good clinical history which was over 80% of the diagnosis something we all agreed was still vitally important today. We remembered him fondly then found this obituary so I just wanted to write to let you know he is still thought about by 'his medical students and remembered fondly. Louise, Celia,Jatinder, Chris.

I am Professor (Emeritus) David Newble. In 1999 I arrived in Sheffield from Australia to establish a new Department of Mdical Education at the University. Nigel became my first colleague and became a good friend. We worked together on a major revision of the medical curriculum. He was a great teacher and we had some enjoyable times introducing innovative team teaching sessions. I was ver sorry to hear of his death which I only discovered as I was trying to contact him for advise about a medical history issue, this being one of his many interests.
