Dr Roy Barry, formerly of Broomhill, Sheffield, died peacefully on 7th September 2021 in Ilkley, West Yorkshire.
A former lecturer in Physiology at the University of Sheffield, Roy was also a dedicated campaigner for social justice and was awarded an MBE in 2008
for his work with Christian Aid.
He helped to establish the WDM
(World Development Movement) in Sheffield and was pivotal in establishing the Development Education Centre South Yorkshire (DECSY), promoting a global perspective in the education curriculum. He moved to
West Yorkshire with his wife, Beryl,
in 2016 and will continue to be an
inspiration for his four sons
and six grandchildren.
Roy's funeral service will take place at St. Mark's Church, Broomhill, Sheffield, S10 2SE on Thursday 30th September at 12pm. Donations to Christian Aid.
