Webster Heffner Obituary

Webster Heffner, 103, of Carlisle, formerly of Alburtis, died May 11, 2013 in Claremont Nursing Home, Carlisle, Cumberland County.
He was the widower of Catherine M. (Bailey) Heffner who died July 10, 2000. His first wife, Verna (Kercher) Heffner died in 1940.
Born in Longswamp Township, he was a son of the late Edward and Katie (Moyer) Heffner.
Mr. Heffner was a member of Longswamp United Church of Christ, Mertztown.
He was first employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad working on many of the rail bridges in Lehigh County and later employed as a shear operator by the former Caloric Corporation, Topton for 41 years, retiring in 1975. Following formal retirement he worked for many years part-time for the U.S. Postal Service at the Alburtis Post Office providing maintenance and janitorial services.
Survivors: Daughter, Shirley A. (Heffner), wife of Fred G. Derr, Jr., Breinigsville; step- daughter, Betty M., wife of William Gracely, Womelsdorf; eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandchild, two sisters, and seven brothers.
Funeral services Wednesday, May 15, at 11:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, with Reverend Dr. Katherine E. Brearley officiating. Interment will follow in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown. Friends may call Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
