LAW Iris With deep sadness, we share news of the passing of Iris, on Tuesday 28th October 2025, aged 92. Iris was the beloved Wife of Alan for 65 years, Mother to Sarah and Adam, Grandmother, Aunt, friend to many, and a primary school teacher in Mary Tavy for over 20 years. The family warmly welcomes those who knew Iris to join them in giving thanks for her life at Tavistock Parish Church (St. Eustachius) on Monday, 17th November, at 2:00pm. Family flowers only please. I remember my years in Mrs Law's class with a real fondness. It was the 1970s, when we listened to Geoffrey Wheeler on the radio for morning worship, and practised country dancing for the 'May Revels' in the afternoon. Mrs Law was a good teacher, who knew how to get the best out of those in her care. I think of her every time I use a fountain pen, thanks to the hours spent with our Marion Richardson handwriting books! Years later she gave me a summer job in her pottery shop in Paddons Row and it was lovely to get to know her on different terms. I have now been working in education myself for 30 years. So, from one teacher to another, thank you, and rest in peace, Mrs Law. Sending condolences to all her family.
