Judith Westacott Obituary

WESTACOTT Judith Ann (Judy) MBE. Passed away at home on Tuesday 21 May 2024, aged 84 years. Judy's tireless commitment and dedication to Totnes and its residents made her one Totnes' most beloved citizens and she will be greatly missed by the whole of the community. She played an active role in numerous community organisations, served as a Town and District Councillor for many years and was Mayor of Totnes five times in 1992, 2002, 2003, 2011, and 2018. In 2008, she was awarded an MBE for her services to Totnes and in 2019 she was made an Honorary Freeman of the Town. A Civic Service in celebration of Judy's life will take place at St Mary's Church, Totnes at 11am on Thursday 27 June 2024. Dress code: bright colours. No flowers please but donations, if desired, for The Totnes Hospital League of Friends or The Cinnamon Trust by retiring collection or may be sent to Allwood Independent Funeral Service, Station Road, Totnes, TQ9 5LF. Judy was a close friend of the Mingo/Bennett family, & particularly close to the late Bill Bennett MBE Honoured Citizen of the Town & several times mayor. Judy & Bill were both long term servants on the town council & worked closely together. Judy will be sorely missed by us all

I was an inhabitant of Totnes for decades and a campaigner to educate people about the health issues for humans and nature of electro magnetic frequencies. Judy was a solid supporter of our work from the beginning. She was someone who supported all the people of Totnes and the surrounding area. A true people person through and through. I live in the midlands now, and miss seeing Judy walking the dog or doing her shopping. Such a wise person and very down to earth and honest
With gratitude for knowing her and her commitment to her community on so many levels.
