My memories of Mike, when we were students together, back in the early 1970s, are dominated by his oft used phrase - "much could be said on both sides", and by a story he told of a holiday job as a bus driver, when he returned to the bus depot to find the Shop Steward arguing fiercely with one of the regular drivers who refused to join the Trade Union.
The Steward was just saying "Everyone's in a Union!" when Mike arrived and he turned to him and said: "Look - here's Mike. I bet you're in the Students' Union!"
I'm not sure if Mike replied "Certainly" or "Every Evening!", but it makes a good memory.
Later Jenny shared a house with my wife Joyce in Edinburgh, but after that we rather lost touch. However, I do remember one occasion when the whole family dropped in for a cup of tea, and we were extremely impressed by how civilsed and charming Mike and Jenny's children were.
Mike's demise is the first of the four who shared a flat in Step Row Dundee, and it brings closer the fact of ones own mortality.
With condolences from Joyce and myself to all the Rejmans who have lost a loved one.

Dearest Michael. You were so much part of our younger lives. It was a joy to be reunited for our Golden Wedding celebrations, when your speech showed your style and wit had not changed in fifty years! Farewell, old friend. With much love and sadness. Lesley and Tony.
