Passed away on
Saturday 17th January 2026,
aged 90 years. Peter lived in the Wigan area with his wife Rita
for most of his life and worked
in local government in both
Preston and Wigan.
He moved to Cherry Tree Care Home in Rawtenstall in 2021. Peter loved the theatre, animals, walking in the Lake District and Scotland, and was a frequent visitor to his cousin and family
in Northern Ireland.
He loved helping people, demonstrated by his years of voluntary service as a Samaritan. He has been described by many people as "a gentleman".
Beloved husband of Rita,
cousin of Patricia Greer and
her children David, Barbara,
John-Anthony and Mary-Louise and their families,
brother-in-law to George and Sue, uncle to Nigel and Richard,
and friend to so many.
Peter will leave a large imprint
on many people's lives.
At rest at Fred Hamer Funeral Home, Rawtenstall.
Peter's service and cremation will be held at Burnley Crematorium on Wednesday 4th February at 3.15pm. No flowers please; donations, if desired, can be made to Wigan and Leigh Hospice https://www.wlh.org.uk/
