In memory of a lovely lady, Phyllis.
I met Phyllis for the first time when I was about 4 years old in the early 1970's on a camping holiday in Hastings. Phyllis, Walter and Douglass made a little boy (me) very welcome and a friendship, albeit a distant friendship between my family and the Pigott family came from this holiday. This lasted over five decades. Phyllis, Walter and Douglass were keen caravaners and we met up many times with the caravans at various camp sites. Over the years Walter, Douglas and my father (Keith) have passed but Phyllis and my Mum (Elsie) kept InTouch as best they could, Phyllis even visited my Mum in Newcastle under Lyme a couple of years ago and they always spoke a few times a year on the telephone and wrote at Christmas.
Mum visited me today (Christmas day) and told me that she had spoken to Phyllis in September time but she was worried because she had not been able to contact her since and particularly over the Christmas period, with no letter.
I don't know if this is a normal way to write a condolence but I just wanted whoever reads these to know that the world has lost a remarkable and wonderful person and my families thoughts are with the close family and those people also lucky enough to have also known Phyllis.
