MRS S. PRIDMORE
(of Worksop)
Loving wife, mum and grandma, Mrs Sheila Pridmore has passed away suddenly at Bassetlaw Hospital.
Sheila was born and educated in Worksop and worked at Marks and Spencer in her younger years. She met Walter, the love of her life at the Palais de Danse in Worksop and they were married in 1954.
They went on to have three children, although their eldest son Trevor only survived for a few short weeks. Sadly, Walter became ill in 2001 and passed away on 28th May 2004 just 13 days after he and Sheila had celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary.
Sheila took great comfort from her dear son David who travelled from Worcester regularly to take her out for lunch and shopping trips. Sheila manged to cope without Walter for nearly nine years in the home that she loved. Sadly, her second David passed away in July 2009. This was a sad time for Sheila who never truly got over losing David.
Sheila loved listening to Classic FM, reading her books and doing her puzzle books but mostly she enjoyed the company of her six beautiful grandsons. She was so proud of them all.
Sheila continued to live happily in her beloved home until the age of 84, although the loss of Walter, David and Trevor had taken their toll. Recently she became frail and gradually started to weaken. Sheila was admitted to hospital on Monday 28th January where she passed away peacefully the following day, the birthday of two of her beautiful grandsons.
Sheila will be very sorely missed by her daughter Shirley, son-in-law David and grandsons Craig, Andrew, Peter, Thomas, William and James.
A truly remarkable lady, doting wife and mother.
The funeral service, held on Valentine's Day , 14th February, was conducted by Mr Peter Hardy of Poplar's Church at Rose Hill Crematorium, Doncaster with Sheila's ashes to be laid to rest with Walter's at Rufford Abbey. The family will be placing a commemorative bench close to the Grand Hotel in Scarborough, a special place for Walter, Sheila and David.
