Keith Anderson was a major figure in local cancer medicine in Leeds and Yorkshire.
After a series of junior hospital appointments, he became a member of the department of histology at The General Infirmary, Leeds.
After national service where he acted as a Major in charge of the army serology, he entered the department of Pathology at the University of Leeds and the General Infirmary, headed by the great tumour pathologist; Professor R.A. Willis. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer and Consultant in 1963. His weekly clinico-pathology seminars and monthly renal biopsy conferences were always well attended. He spent over 2 years as acting head of the department and following retirement in 1990 and the death of his wife Dr. Diana Jane Haiste, former medical officer, Pontefract, he spent 18 years as a guide and explainer at The National Railway Museum, York, and was considered an authority on early railways.
He leaves four children,
eleven grandchildren,
and one great grandchild.
