Dear Alan. A wonderful man, musician , teacher and friend. You were such an inspiration to me at Wakefield college. The concerts we attended with your choir and wonderful to have had you all perform at our methodist church in south elmsall. Very sad to hear of the passing of such an amazing person. I will treasure tje memories of our visits to you at Turnham Hall. Rest in peace Alan xx Rita and family xx

I think I was his first piano student at his home and have wonderful memories of him and his young family. He was inspirational piano teacher and we have remained friends ever since.
Our condolences to all the family.

I have fond memories of Alan when he was a visiting lecturer at Leeds Polytechnic in the early 1970's. He, along with Denise Mockler, managed to coax some memorable performances from our group the HACS (History of Art and Contemporary Studies). Alan accompanied me when I performed a rendition of "Baby It's Cold Outside" to a, seemingly, appreciative audience of fellow students and tutors. I also recall being asked by Alan if I would help him to collect a vintage harpsichord that he was adding to his collection. Alan had a wicked sense of humour and this, together with his easy going style made him a firm favourite with students.
