Derek Catherall

CATHERALL Derek Of Castleford,
passed away peacefully on
Tuesday, January 23, aged 84.
As senior lecturer in
Mining Engineering at
Whitwood College, Castleford, Derek trained hundreds of local mineworkers, deputies and undermanagers.
Before then he worked in
most pits around Castleford
and was undermanager at
Fryston and Wheldale.
Loving husband of the late Yvonne; doting father to Lorraine and Richard; wonderful father-in-law to David and Lucy; inspiring grandad to Jasmine, Natasha, James and Jessica; and beloved brother of Evelyn, Alison and Josephine, also the late Joseph, Beryl, Richard, Eleanor and Ronald.
This caring, unassuming
and gentle man will be missed
by all who knew him.
The funeral will take place on
Friday, February 16, at noon,
at Trinity Methodist Church, Castleford, followed by
a short service at
Pontefract Crematorium.
Afterwards there will be a celebration of Derek's life at the Magnet Hotel, Pontefract Road, Castleford, from 2pm.
No flowers, please, but any donations will be given to
Kidney Research Yorkshire and Castleford Heritage Trust.
