Born on January 30, 1928, in the Garden state of New Jersey, and having completed a remarkable journey of 97 years, Alfred "Fred" Prakelt passed away on September 27, 2025, in the serene surroundings of Ocala, Florida. Fred's life was a testament to resilience, adventure, and generosity. A first-generation American, Fred was the proud son of German immigrants, Alfred and Elma Prakelt. His early years were shaped by their stories of perseverance and hardship, instilling in him a robust work ethic and a steadfast commitment to being better than what he was given. This foundation paved the way for a life characterized by courage and generosity. Though life's trials visited him often, Fred remained a beacon of generosity and warmth. Fred's adventurous spirit led him to enlist in the Navy right out of high school, where he valiantly served during World War I. His naval experiences were just the beginning of a life filled with bold endeavors. After his military service, Fred transitioned into civilian life as a Union plasterer, building not only structures but also lifelong skills. Never one to shy away from excitement, Fred took to the racetracks of Miami, where he raced motorcycles with the same zeal that he lived his life. An outdoorsman at heart, he cherished every fishing excursion and moment spent in nature, where he found peace and inspiration. Fred was known for his colorful personality and impeccable style. He loved ballroom dancing and always dressed to the nines, embodying elegance and joy. A proud member of the Moose Lodge, he valued community and camaraderie, leaving a lasting impact on those around him. Preceded in death by his cherished first wife, Esther M. Prakelt, and their four beloved children, his second loving wife, Emily Flowers, and his parents, Alfred and Elma, Fred faced each loss with courage and grace. He is lovingly remembered by his surviving family: his son, Filmore (Sheryl) Flowers, his daughter, Sandy Flowers, and many grandchildren.. For the past eight years, his days were brightened by his dear companion, Marylan Miller, whose presence was a balm to his soul and who helped him find God. Fred Prakelt's legacy is one of strength, kindness, and an unwavering zest for life. He inspired all who knew him with his boundless energy and generosity of spirit. Though he has departed from this world, his memory will continue to dance in our hearts, a testament to a life well-lived and a man well-loved.
