Angelo Toscano Obituary
Angelo J. Toscano, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 in Ocala, Florida. Angelo lived a long, full life defined by hard work, loyalty, deep devotion to family, and a sense of humor that never faded. Born in Northern Rockland County New York in 1934, Angelo was one of eleven children. Growing up during the Depression taught him resilience at an early age, and he began working as a child to help support his family. Like many of his brothers, Angelo proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his military service, Angelo built his career as a bridge rigger and painter, working high above the Hudson River on the Bear Mountain Bridge and later the iconic Tappan Zee Bridge. It was challenging and dangerous work, but it reflected who he was-strong, steady, courageous, and dedicated. On July 4th, 1963, he married the love of his life, Dawn (Mackey). Together they shared more than 62 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and resilience. After retiring, Angelo and Dawn moved to Ocala, Florida, where they spent more than 30 years enjoying golf, sunshine, and the simple joys of retirement life. In typical fashion, Angelo would often joke that he had "collected a pension longer than he ever collected a paycheck." Known affectionately as "Uncle Sonny," "Ben," or "Anj," Angelo was a natural storyteller with a warm personality. He had a gift for lighting up a room with a smile or a perfectly timed joke. He was a loving husband and a dedicated caretaker to Dawn, a proud father, and a deeply devoted grandfather and great-grandfather. His kindness, humor, and joy left a lasting mark on all who knew him. Angelo is survived by his wife Dawn (Mackey); his children Scott (Elisa), Marealena, and Robert (Joanne); his grandchildren Lidia, Alanna, Ryan, and Angela; and his great-grandchildren Juliette and Lucy. His legacy will live on in the love, laughter, and lessons he shared with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Remembrance Masses for Angelo J.
