With profound love and cherished memories, we honor the life of Locksley "Locks" Beckford, a beloved patriarch, friend, and community member, who passed away in
Ocala, Florida, on September 27, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on November 10, 1950, in St. Catherine, Jamaica, to the late Lawrence and Doris Beckford, Locs was a beacon of joy and strength to all who knew him.
Locksley grew up in the vibrant landscapes of St. Catherine, where he attended Tulloch all-age school, forming the foundation of a lifelong passion for learning and community involvement. His dedication to service was evident in his over twenty years of work at the National Parish Council in Jamaica's water division. Locs also explored other career paths, including a brief stint as a security guard and over a decade as a home improvement contractor, where his skill and craftsmanship brought warmth and beauty to many homes.
In 1988, Locks made the significant move from Jamaica to Florida, later settling in Connecticut in 1992 before returning to Florida in 2005. This journey marked new beginnings and the continuation of his love for family and community. An exceptional cook, Locs was renowned for making the best "fry dumpling" in the entire world, as told by those who would bite into them...a testament to the love he poured into every meal he prepared.
Locksley's zest for life was paralleled by his love for cricket, a sport he played as a young man and continued to enjoy throughout his life. Music, too, played a major part in who he was-a rhythm that flowed through him and connected him to his Jamaican roots and the people he loved.
He leaves behind a vast and loving family, including his children Lisa Marie Beckford (Kevin), Albert Beckford, Kereon Cole (Selvin), Marva Beckford, Kabiru Beckford (Demi), O'neil Beckford, and Locksley Beckford Jr (Christina). His legacy also lives on through his adoring 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the lessons and laughter he shared. Locksley is also survived by his siblings Bibsey Beckford, Delroy Beckford, Olvie Beckford, Maurice Beckford, Cleveland Beckford, Patricia Beckford, Novlette Beckford, and Barrington Beckford, all of whom will miss his guiding light and boundless love.
Predeceased by his parents and siblings Herman, Henry, and RoseMarie, Locks is now reunited with them in eternal peace. His best friends, Brent Darlington and Myron Scott, along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, will hold dear the memories of his laughter, wisdom, and indomitable spirit.
Locksley "Locks" Beckford lived a full and vibrant life, marked by the love he gave and the lives he touched. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit remains a guiding star-a light of love, resilience, and joy. We celebrate his remarkable journey and the profound impact he made on every path he crossed. Rest in peace, dear Locks, until we meet again.
